The Details…

This is a follow-up to the step-by-step post which will show you how to import the shortcuts file into the QuicKeys program, how to setup lightroom to function with those shortcuts, and how to reprogram mouse movements so that OSK will work on any sized screen resolution.

This video should really make it clear how easy it is to reprogram the current shortcuts file available for download. More to come!

P.S. Sorry about the poor quality of the video (skips a bit). If you follow along with a trial version of QuicKeys it will be no problem. (I’ll also try to increase the quality of the video!)

Cheers!

Ok and quick update for you windows people…

I have the AHK working with the script Rob previously linked too. It’s not 100% yet. There are currently two ways to go about this.

The reason for two ways is this, when you program a key to select say Exposure, it selects it but also modifies it .10. So you can make it so you have two keys, one Exposure + one Exposure -. OR you can simply have it select exposure and ignore that it’s made that .10 adjustment because you will probably be making changes to exposure since you selected it so that .10 adjustment doesn’t really mean anything, and you can have it as Rob has it laid out and then use the 3 different levels of + or -. I think I prefer the latter, otherwise you will always be making adjustments in .10 or the lowest possible amount for each selection. So I will do it that way. I will save the Script for AHK, and the Macro Works II (default x-keys macro program) and post a link on where you can download such files, and it should work straight out of the box, WITH ANY SIZED SCREEN, this does not rely on screen sizes or mouse clicks.

I would highly reccomend it for all you Windows users, and for you mac users! use what Rob has done, it’s also awesome and easily programable if you just take a few minutes it will save you hours.

So the status of this being posted relies on me, programming this, as I am doing right this moment, and then I’ll probably have to bug Rob for a couple of the shortcuts he’s using that are built into lightroom that I seem to be missing. And then It will be posted, I will try my hardest to keep the map layout the same as Rob has it, I think it’s well thought out and works well. Of course, everything is changeable by you !

I’ll be posting all updates in the comments sections of Rob’s post to keep checking for updates.

That’s so awesome Harvey!! A huge thanks for figuring out the Windows side of things! Let me know what shortcuts you need and I’ll find them for you. Once you post the script (or I can post it here) I’ll take a look at it and see if I can come up with instructions to easily set things up (or you could if you like). It’s just fantastic that it will work with any screen size! Thanks again Harvey!
